Olympiad R7: Armenia leads by a full point

Aronian, Akopian and Co. scored an important 3:1 victory over the Netherlands, increasing their lead over the Rest of the World to a full point. Russia beat Belarus by the same score, and is now in second place, a point behind the Armenians. In the Women's section Russia beat Slovakia 3:0 and now lead by a full point.

Armenia increased its lead over the Rest of the World to a full point, with a 3:1 victory over the Netherlands. The secret weapon of the Armenians is Gabriel Sargissian, who has scored 6/7 on board four. Russia beat Belarus by the same score, and now is in second place, a point behind the Armenians. The points were brought in by Vladimir Kramnik, who won in 18 moves, Peter Svidler and Alexander Morozevich (Bareev lost). India lost to Ukraine, when Harikrishna was beaten by Sergey Karjakin and all other games drawn.

Women's section

In the Women's section Russia beat Slovakia 3:0, with Alexandra Kosteniuk, Nadezhda Kosintseva and Ekaterina Kovaleskaya at the guns. The Russian lead has increased to a full point after Ukraine defeated Romania by 2½:½. USA beat India which was resting Koneru Humpy.
